#100BestTVDMoments

The Vampire Diaries 100th episode is fast approaching with only two days left, well if you live in the USA that is. England will have to wait that little bit longer.

With the milestone just round the corner, spoilers, sneak peeks and images are coming thick and fast and if you’ve managed to avoid all spoilers you have great willpower.

To celebrate the 100th episode, fans and even the writers have taken to Twitter to remember their favourite moments over the last 4 and half seasons with the #100BestTVDMoments. Julie Plec has being getting in on the action and reminiscing her favourite moments on Twitter.

So to celebrate this milestone, here are some of the best moments from the last 100 episodes

Klaus intends to be Caroline’s last
Caroline’s just graduated high school and Klaus gives her the ultimate gift, Tyler. Klaus announces Tyler is free to return then announces, “He’s your first love, I intend to be your last”.  What’s more to love in a scene, you’ve got a declaration of love and selflessness from someone we never thought could be selfless and put someone else above himself.

Elena turns it back on
Damon and Stefan try to evoke some sort of emotion from the emotionless Elena, who knows deep down that they will never actually hurt her to get her to flip the switch. But no one said that hurting Elena was the answer, hurting Matt was. The two resort to extreme measures and no one saw Damon snapping Matt’s neck coming especially Elena.  With her emotions back on, Elena can’t handle all the pain and grief and it’s Stefan who comes to the rescue to save her.

Caroline turns into a vampire
The best thing to happen to Caroline Forbes was turning into a vampire; she went from a neurotic control freak into this strong, independent woman. Personally I wasn’t a fan of season one Caroline but over the seasons, she slowly became one of my ultimate favourites who I would be sad to say goodbye to.  Her transition wouldn't have been easy though without the help of Stefan.

Stefan shows Elena a 50’s move
It was the first school dance in a long line of dances that TVD are known for. Elena is as usual in danger and in the mix of waiting for the attacker, Stefan and Elena find one happy and amazing moment. Stefan lets go and in that moment unexpected to Elena, swings her round. Stefan truly in that moment is having fun and Elena is happy, and those two occurrences don’t happen very often.

Elena turns it off
The episode as a whole was a mix of emotions from start to finish, but the moment that stands out is defiantly Elena finally accepting that Jeremy has truly gone. The scene sees Elena not able to control her grief and pain and when it all gets too much Damon tells her to turn it all off. Seeing  Elena full of pain to absolute nothing shows just how good of an actress Nina Dobrev is. She was spectacular in that scene, she is most defiantly one of the best actresses of her generation and underrated.

Damon gives Rose paradise
Rose has been bitten by a werewolf and the only way out of the pain and misery is death. But Damon was there to make sure she didn’t feel scared and felt safe when the time came. Before Damon puts Rose out of her misery, he gives her joy, happiness and calmness, he made sure her last moments were spent somewhere she loved. It showed Damon in a new light, he put someone other than Stefan and Elena before himself and we see Damon does actually care.

Elena tells Stefan she loves him for the first time
The selfless man that Stefan is decides he’s leaving Mystic Falls so Elena can live her life and be safe. But Elena isn’t having any of it and tells him if he leaves it’s for him, because she wants to be with him and he shouldn’t make decisions for her. With Stefan facing away from Elena with teary eyes, Elena declares her love for him and with the audience yelling at him to turn around he finally does, and goes to Elena.

Stefan calls Elena
When everyone thought all hope was lost, Stefan calls Elena on her birthday and we all know including Elena that he hasn’t gone and there’s hope that Stefan can still be saved. Stefan didn’t have to say anything and Elena knew it was him, and all Stefan needed was to hear her voice because that’s what was going to get him through it. And Elena’s birthday wish came true, she found out he was alive and he was ok well okish and who can’t remember her telling him to hold on and he was going to be ok.

Damon talks to Alaric at his grave
The death of Alaric hit everyone hard, and he defiantly is one of the characters everybody misses the most. But Damon sitting next to his grave because he refused to partake in the memorial and all he needed was his drinking buddy was a heart breaker. From the memorial to remember everyone that died, to Damon’s speech by Ric’s grave and Ric’s “I miss you too Buddy” the episode was full of remembrance for everyone that has departed. But seeing Alaric again was a nice end to the episode.

The veil comes down
This episode was full of nostalgic moments for the characters as well as the fans. Some deeply missed characters and fan favourites came back, some for revenge, some to help loved ones. The episode sees Kol, Lexi, Grams, Alaric and Jeremy come back. Any episode where characters come back from the other side is going to be a good episode and any episode with Lexi in is going to be great anyway.

Obviously, there are many more great moments from The Vampire Diaries but it would be impossible to write them all down, there’s just too many. Join in with the hashtag on Twitter and share what your best moment or moments are from the show.
