Star Crossed fans rally to save show

Fans of the freshman series Star Crossed also known as Stargrazers (the name given to them by the cast)were left disappointed and angry on the 8th May when The CW announced they had no plans to renew the show for a second season.

With only 13 episodes, Star Crossed aired mid-season and fans have defended the show saying it has not been given its chance to shine and gain the follow ship it deserves. Fans have also commented that the Monday evening time slot didn’t help with the view ship as well.

To add insult to injury, fans were also not happy that Beauty and The Beast  currently still airing on a Monday was renewed for a third season, when ratings have indicated that Star Crossed had better numbers than its partnered up show.

However, the cancellation has not stopped fans from voicing their passion for the show and are taking every measure possible in the hopes that they will be heard and someone will pick Star Crossed back up.

As soon as the news of the cancellation hit Twitter, fans have continued to tweet non-stop about the show to The CW and to other networks. Star Trek star, William Shatner even joined the protest and gave fellow Stargazers a helping hand on how to reach out to the network.

The fans didn’t stop there though, within hours of the cancellation a petition was already up (which as it stands has over 25,000 signatures and counting) in the hopes that The CW would change their minds and give the show a second chance.

Along with Twitter, fans are also hitting out on other social networks to campaign to get their show back. A Facebook page was created for fans, with news and updates about the progress of their campaign, and for them to show the network just how many fans are out there.

To show the network just how loyal Stargazers are, fans rallied together to create a YouTube video to promote how much they love the show and why they want it back. The video also highlights that the show isn’t just loved in the US but also worldwide. A factor the network said was important for the future of a television show.

Fans also got the chance to show their enthusiasm for Star Crossed when two campaigns were launched to help fight against cancer. Fans not only got the chance to have a piece of unofficial merchandise of their new favourite show but also got the chance to help a cause. One campaign sold Stargazer T-shirts, selling 86 shirts in total, initially trying to sell 10. The second campaign is selling Eupraxia SoapsBoth campaigns together have raised an outstanding $806 with the proceedings going to  American Cancer Society which is in reference to Julia’s story from episode one.

The charity T-shirt campaign has since ended, but if you missed out the first time in getting a charity Stargazer T-Shirt, you’re in luck, the campaign has just started up again, so help fight against cancer and show your support for the show as well.

Stargazers have now decided to take a leaf out of the Jericho fan book and are planning to send spaghetti to the network. Just like Jericho fans who sent in nuts as a reference to the last episode, Star Crossed fans have decided spaghetti is the way to go to save their show, which if you’re a Star Crossed fan you know the significance of the spaghetti.

Let’s hope that the Stargazers efforts pay off, and the show gets the second chance that it deserves.

Keep tweeting (remember only use #StarCrossed)and petitioning and maybe next year fans will be watching season 2.
